Matisse Ann
is a Seattle-based designer and artist with a passion for blending science and the arts. Encouraged from a young age to embrace both fields, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design with a Minor in Textile Design from Pratt Institute, graduating with Highest Honors. At Pratt, she honed her skills in garment design, construction, manufacturing, distribution, and textile design, among many other facets of the design industry.

Matisse's work addresses critical social issues, such as class division, wealth inequality, and women’s reproductive rights. She creates innovative textiles and garments from repurposed materials, focusing on sustainability and equal opportunity. Her designs aim to be practical yet captivating, reflecting the spirit of the working class across generations.
Her diverse skill set extends to graphic, development, and product design, evidenced by her internship at EACH Jewels, where she collaborated with the CEO to design and launch a soft accessories line. Matisse also developed product design lines inspired by various historic design styles. Additionally, she played a key role in establishing Pratt Institute’s first Textile Resource Library, providing students with valuable resources on sustainable fibers, fabric weaves and knits, and fiber production.
Matisse's commitment to making textiles and their production more accessible drives her work, aiming to bring both innovation and practicality to the fashion industry.
